Although global in its thinking, Shared Visions determined that as a small foundation it is most effective when concentrating its efforts on local communities.

By acting locally the Foundation is able to create partnerships with organizations through hands-on-service, collaboration and monetary support. This approach has been effective in increasing organizational capacity of its grantees and assisting them in reaching their goals.

Local action also allows the Board of Directors to see and measure the impact of the Foundation's activities. Shared Visions hopes that similiar efforts will be replicated across other communities.
